Editor's Note: The Top 100 Forecast Returns
When I first started writing these Editor’s comments, I remember the Top 100 including, what was then, new superyachts such as Eclipse, Radiant, and my personal all-time favourite, Luna. These were revolutionary projects, and still stand for the change they represented eight years ago. Since then, we’ve welcomed designs that have rocked the status quo, yachts that break the boundaries of size and projects with true staying power.
Now, we’ve released our predictions for the new launches entering the Top 100 in 2018 and, with it, I look forward to seeing what lands, and what we miss across the year.
There are always surprise launches, postponements and exciting changes that keep us on our toes throughout 365 days; however, we’re looking forward to seeing the official arrival of SHU, TIS, Feadship 1007, Bravo, Feadship 814, Yasmin, Y717 and Feadship 700.
To celebrate this, we’ve looked into the design revolutions which have come with each year’s forecast over the last decade; taken stock of the largest yachts listed for charter on Superyachts.com and looked outside of the Top 100 in our first, of many, looks into the upcoming projects across the industry.
While we’ve been working to suss out the latest launches of 2018, the industry has begun to wake and bring forward updates from across the world; reflecting early signs of success.
DAMEN is the primary example of this after today announcing the sale of GAME CHANGER, their latest in a line of Support Vessel sales, while IYC added to the brokerage updates with the sale of Abbracci.
I’m looking forward to getting back into the post-production phases of our numerous video projects next week, and while I’m away, Rose Hannah Lishman will be launching our Caribbean Charter Special while Christina Tsangaris plunges into the world of Cryptocurrency.
