Jaeger-Lecoultre Reverso Watches Honour a Painting Legend
Swiss luxury watch brand Jaeger-Lecoultre have given their renowned Reverso timepiece an eye-catching revamp in honour of acclaimed Swiss painter Ferdinand Hodler.
The Reverso watch is known for its ability to flip over so that the normally concealed caseback can take the place of the watch face – and it is these iterations that feature three of the fantastic landscapes that Hodler was known and revered for.
This year marks the 100th anniversary of his death and so Jaeger-Lecoultre decided to mark the occasion with the special edition watch.
The watch case is a specially crafted white gold piece that reflects an Art Deco style, while the dial features guillochage work designed to create a beautiful woven effect.
In total three tribute watches have been created, each with different dial colours that echo some of the hues in the paintings on the back.
On the back of all three watches are fabulous artworks: Lake Thun With Symmetric Reflections Before Sunrise (1904), Lake Thun, Symmetric Reflection (1909), and Lake Geneva With Mont Blanc In The Morning Light (1918).
Each painted watch was first hand engraved with the delicate lines that comprise the paintings and then shaded in with enamel colours.
A total of 8 watch versions of each of the chosen paintings have been created, meaning that just 24 of these watches have been created. Prices are available on request.
