Fairmont Opens Its First Maldives Property

Luxury hotel band Fairmont has opened its first property in the world renowned destination of the Maldives.

Called the Fairmont Maldives Sirru Fen Fushi, the lavish resort is based on a high level of sustainability, but that doesn’t prevent it being home to an array of indulgent features.

The resort offers 120 luxury villas, each with a private pool as well as infinity pools and safari-style tented villas on the island. It is also home to the world’s first coral regeneration project and will feature Maldives first underwater sculpture museum, created by British artist, Jason deCaires Taylor.

The surrounding lagoon At Fairmont Maldives Sirru Fen Fushi is home to thousands of manta rays, turtles, large pods of bottlenose and spinner dolphins and the property is committed to preserving underwater life and its wellbeing through several initiatives.

The Villas display a bucolic theme, each with the use natural woods, stones, metals and macrame art. There are also several dining options for guests, including an all-day dining spot, Raha Market, the over-water Japanese restaurant, Kata, and another over-water restaurant, the seafood-focused Azure.

Guests can also relax at the Onu Onu bar or indulge in spa therapies at the inhouse wellness centre called the Willow Stream Spa, featuring hand-carved wooden doors and passages and a large Jacuzzi pool.

Other amenities include a kid’s club, a toddler’s play garden with a dedicated Teen Town, cooking classes with a Maldivian chef, a sunset dolphin tour, and turtle release programmes.

The resort can be accessed by domestic flight from Male International Airport followed by speedboat from Hanimaadhoo Airport or via seaplane flight directly to the resort.
