Editor’s Note: Setting the Scene for a Successful 2018
Closing the year of 2017 and leaving the office for the holidays, I was enthusiastic about the reports of success that emerged from across the industry over the year. What I didn’t expect, was that the festive period would bring more sales in one week than most would see in a month; however, it didn’t end there.
Upon arrival back from the New Year break, the deluge of information surrounding global sales was impressive, if not a little daunting after being allowed to build in the inbox. But, this is nonetheless a resounding call to success for a year which, most would agree, continued an established notion of stability for the brokerage community.
Even working to provide updates on sales past from the holiday period, news continued to roll in from houses such as Moran Yacht & Ship who had brokered the sale of Madsummer, as well as reporting the brand-new central agency of a superyacht close to my heart, Coral Ocean.
A sale on the grander scheme of things is a sale regardless, and Palumbo Group joined the contract discussions this week with the view of purchasing one Italy’s most respected shipyards, Mondomarine. Leasing the yard for six months, the group today announced it’s long-term goals of taking over and assimilating the expert craftsmanship into the rapidly-expanding industry giant.
The year is new and the updates nascent in form, but this January has already set the bar high for a traditionally quiet week. But, in that fashion, we’re working hard to bring you new insights, exclusive content, interviews and onboard walkthroughs next week and beyond; so stay tuned to Superyachts.com.
