The 140-metre mothership hosts an airship for when owners feel like taking to the skies

Designed by George Lucian Art, this 140-metre steel-hulled mothership hosts a very special ‘tender’ – the 100-metre helium-filled airship Flying Diamond. “The idea for the project came from my passion for yachting and my fascination with the airships that were flying in the early 20th Century, transporting passengers across the ocean in an very elegant and stylish manner with luxurious amenities on board,” says George Lucian. The angular lines of the yacht part of the superyacht airship concept are striking enough, and there is plenty of flush deck space to host other tenders, and even a helicopter aft – a vehicle which seems boringly conventional in the circumstances.

The airship, which will be tethered fore and aft when not in use, will have its own living quarters with a salon and one or two suites, as well as crew spaces. There’s space on the yacht for an estimated 12 guests and 40 or more crew, as well as a facility for storing and producing helium to keep the airship in the air.

“The superyacht airship concept targets a visionary owner who enjoys sailing and flying, exploring from the air and entertaining his guest with dinner and cocktails in the sky,” says George Lucian, who is based in Monaco.
